My Fight with a Giant Spider Monster Thing
by Kevin D. Barboro
Illustrated by Kevin D. Barboro, age 22
It had been a long night; a LONG night
Wherein although I slept alright,
I spent the whole thing in a fight;
Oh I'll tell you, what a sight
A spider with people for legs and grass on its head
Growing long and it led down its back like a mane
And oh, it had fire in its eyes; nine the size
Of a teacup plate. Guys: I'm telling you, t'was insane.
Why I deserved its ire, oh the ire,
How it thought that I had conspired
To harm it how I desire to know
But hate me it did, oh it did.
It hated my toes up to my eyelids
Down from its web it crawled and slid, and spoke:
"Fuck off!"
"No you!" I replied.
